a dude who has a shitty day at work and when he comes home he's a jerk to his family but then he feels bad about it and was going to jump off a bridge I think so an angel shows up to stop him by telling him all the good he's done in his life or maybe that was before the shitty day at work? I don't really remember either way he goes to a world where he never existed and everyone is miserable because he wasn't there to do something or stop something, so he clicks his heels together and says there's no place like home (except that's The Wizard of Oz) and he wakes up again, goes to be nice to his family, and saves the town from an evil bank man every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings the end
it was a REALLY shitty day at work I guess? dude I can't make it through the whole thing in one sitting, I don't know anything more than what I gave you
Christmas movie. Got it. Do you think they celebrate that here? They did in Hell, if you could believe that In the worst ways, of course, and Lucifer spends the whole month mopey and miserable, but still, Christmas in Hell.
I always forget about that Halloween thing. The demons loved that one, but that's not particularly shocking. I can't believe it's nearly that time of year already.
I think I've got all the wrong context for everything. There's the pumpkins, and you're supposed to carve them, but NOT to make calabaza en tacha which is a shame because that's really good. And there's costumes, but I'm guessing they're not magic Maybe? And the candy is perfectly normal. Also, something about going into haunted houses. Do I have that right?
That didn't happen with the candy, just the fruit. The candy was just magically cursed in some way.
Anyway, I don't think you missed much with magic costumes.
Calabaza en tacha, however, you're definitely missing out on. It's candied pumpkin! You stew the pieces in cinnamon and in piloncillo so it makes a syrup and the pumpkin turns all soft in it as you're cooking over the course of hours pour a little bit of milk over top and it's supposed to be really nice.
[...It's a relief to realize that he doesn't have to go through that anymore. He didn't have to keep track of how many days it would be before he became nothing more than a ferocious animal no person was safe to be around. If he'd come here as a werewolf instead of an Animal Person... He shakes his head. He doesn't need to worry about it.]
hey! you know Shinji, that guy with the watermelons? he's not growing pumpkins, but it's some other gourd or squash like that I wonder if we could try it with that we'd need to find a way to get piloncillo though... I know there's fancy food replicators but I don't think they're THAT fancy I think Kaito and Shinji have one so I could check
You sure about that? I might have been willing to trade for whatever you had.
[Vampirism sucked.]
Might be worth a shot. I don't know if the watermelons would hold together as well as pumpkin but I'm sure it would still taste good. Probably sweeter. If you find out they can get some, let me know, I'll see If I can remember how to make the whole recipe properly. Worst case scenario, it'll be fun to try, even if it doesn't work.
school magic costumes good, hell magic costumes bad I was sick and out of it and then the next morning I had to get on a plane to help rescue your skeletal ass
not the watermelons hold on I have to find what it is
KABOCHA squash confirmed and it's orange inside they won't be ready for a while so it gives us time to hunt for ingredients and we can get stuff for atole too so there's at least something for sure good to be made with the cinnamon and piloncillo
Another point to you. I think I'd still take being regular sick, but you have my sympathies. and also gratitude, I suppose? Even if it's for another me.
That could work. I haven't seen it before but if it's a squash it can't be too far off. And you know about Atole too? It's been a long time since I've had that. It's going to end up smelling like the holidays in this kitchen.
I remember that... It was a special treat for breakfast when we could manage it. She wanted to help stir the molinillo, but she'd make a terrible mess.
I mean, I ended up seeing her a few months later you guys let me visit for día del amor y la amistad
[It's less embarrassing to put it that way, even if it makes it all the easier for Héctor to know just what he means. Rolling right along into stuff that's even worse than getting dunked on for being in love as he's sure to be --]
but I was over in France and didn't know when I'd get to go home let alone visit México and then the world was maybe going to end before April I was going from living with her to nothing but video calls and texts from a completely different timezone
I was too chicken to ask her if she liked me but she was my best friend I'd miss her even if I knew I was going to see her in a month or a week
[Whatever dunking on Cliff was expecting, it doesn't come. His heart sinks too low, caught up in understanding, longing, and worry all at once.]
So you wanted to make your possible last moments good. A memory to hang on to, just in case.
That sounds like a very nice thing. I'd have wanted to do the same.
[He did do the same, but with someone else. He sat outside and sang songs to Nekane, made smores with them over a burning fire and promises he could never keep. He made sure they were the last one he saw before he said the thing he thought would make them hate him.]
I hope the world didn't end for you. But, if it did, please don't tell me. I can't bear thinking of that happening to her.

Just saying!
But yes, things tend to trickle in slower like that.
Plus with everyone being more old-fashioned.
no subject
like how old people can't get over Elvis, the Beatles, Sinatra, Queen, and shit like that
stop watching A Wonderful Life on tv it's boring
no subject
Great news.
I haven't seen any of those.
Not even one.
no subject
well the first four are singers and bands
but you'd probably like It's a Wonderful Life even though it sucks
no subject
You're really selling it to me.
What's it about?

every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings
the end

[Which mostly just include monsters.]
...You'd think he'd just apologize to his family first instead of trying to jump off a bridge.
I mean, surely that would be easier.
no subject
it was a REALLY shitty day at work I guess?
dude I can't make it through the whole thing in one sitting, I don't know anything more than what I gave you
no subject
But I reserve my right to complain about creatures that want to chew on me.
I'll ask Nekane about it.
Maybe they'll find it for me someday.

no subject
it's literally about god and shit
and making people work instead of spending time with their families
I don't know about here though
I guess we'll find out if Halloween happens since that's first
no subject
You know what, you've got me there.
I always forget about that Halloween thing.
The demons loved that one, but that's not particularly shocking.
I can't believe it's nearly that time of year already.

which is funny because he's still scared of monsters
the candy helps a lot

no subject
except you always hear urban legends about razor blades in candy
I've never heard of something like that actually happening
even though it's in France, at Daybreak there were probably magic costumes
I wasn't really around for that
so what's calabaza en tacha?
no subject
The candy was just
magically cursed in some way.
